The April 19th Louisville Central Community Center Job Fair generated tremendous community interest in those looking for career paths, both inside the Russell neighborhood and throughout Louisville.
The event included 41 employers across a variety of industries with 152 job seekers in attendance. 88 of those are currently unemployed. In the next 90 days, LCCC’s Adult Services Coordinator Patricia Williams and the LCCC team will engage those who attended to assist in potential matches for job seekers and employers, resume-building counsel, and hands-on support in making appropriate connections for those who are diligently pursuing employment opportunities from their fair attendance.
Support for the job fair this spring came from key partnerships, including a key sponsor — Algood Food Co. — as well as the Louisville Urban League, Simmons College, Metro Louisville Government, and the Kentucky Career Center.
“The employers are committed to our community, and we see strong potential in working to have positions that are open filled, as well as making a commitment to those looking for gainful employment. As the new Adult Services Coordinator, I was able to really connect with our community to see what their needs are,” said Williams.
At the event the local SHRM chapter in Louisville manned a booth to review and counsel job seekers on next steps and resume-building.
